"Learning throughout life is crucial for personal growth and international exchange is imperative for the future of our world. Small Planet Dancers offers people of all ages an opportunity to learn about global dance and discover the many cultures in which these dances are rooted. Through educational performances, we share these experiences with our audiences, and encourage all to appreciate the richness of our differences."
The Small Planet Dancers dance troupe, originally known as Maple Run, was established in 1986. We are a performing dance troupe based in Westfield, Massachusetts that entertains in Western Massachusetts and throughout New England at fairs, festivals, fundraisers, community events and private functions. Our repertoire covers a wide variety of international and ethnic dances with special emphasis on Middle Eastern or Belly Dancing, Celtic, Flamenco, African, Clogging, Argentine Tango and the history of American dance, including black history. Details and a list of currently available performance numbers can be found on our Dance Troupe pages.
Small Planet Dancers is open to all would be dancers, regardless of age or experience. Classes teach both technique and the discipline of specific choreographed dances. While performances are optional, students are encouraged to participate at appropriate venues as their skill and familiarity with troupe performance numbers develops.
